Xerox deal with UBC to save school millions
VANCOUVER—The $40 million, six-year, print-management deal that Xerox recently signed with the University of British Columbia is set to save the school upwards of $8 million, says associate vice president administration and finance Jackie Podger. “That is in addition to the efficiency improvements the deal adds,” she says. “It is a win-win for cost-savings and sustainability.”

The deal will affect every aspect of the document life-cycle, says Podger from printing and copying to design and delivery. Xerox will be renting and staffing space on the Vancouver campus, she says. It will not be building an additional facility. “Out objective through this deal is to deliver cost savings and productivity improvements back to the faculty and departments,” she says. “For example, Xerox will be assessing and rationalizing equipment so there will be one big printer instead of six small ones.”
