Newspaper readership steady in Canada, survey suggests
MISSISSAUGA, ON—Newspaper readership is solid in Canada, according to a survey by the Newspaper Audience Databank (NADbank).

The 2008 Study by NADbank, a research arm of the Canadian daily newspaper industry, showed that nearly three quarters of Canadians aged 18 and over read a print edition of a daily paper every week, while only 4% read newspapers strictly online. Almost 50% of adults reported reading a daily newspaper on the average weekday.

In 19 key markets including Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, the number of weekly readers of online and printed newspapers has remained stable since 2004.

The NADbank 2008 Study supplies readership information for 82 daily papers in 54 markets, and 58 community newspapers in 33 markets across Canada. To download a full copy of the survey click here.
